New NSORRA Ride Area Opens in HRM
NSORRA is excited to announce the opening of a brand-new Ride Area in Halifax Regional Municipality! Thanks to the generosity of landowner Stephen Clark, a 220-acre NSORRA Ride Area in Elmsvale (just outside Middle Musquodoboit) is now available for NSORRA members to explore and enjoy.

What is a NSORRA Ride Area?
A NSORRA Ride Area is a privately-owned parcel of land, ideally 100 acres or more, that has been developed, or is intended to be developed, into a network of single-track trails for the use of Nova Scotia Off Road Riders Association (NSORRA) members. These areas provide a safe, controlled environment for off-road motorcycling, in alignment with NSORRA’s mission to support responsible and sustainable riding opportunities across Nova Scotia.
While NSORRA does not provide financial support for the development or maintenance of trails, the organization plays an active role in supporting landowners including providing liability insurance coverage for the landowner while the area is in use by NSORRA members. For more information on NSORRA Ride Areas, contact Trails & Admin Coordinator Susan Foote at admin@nsorra.ca.

Trails and Terrain
The Middle Musquodoboit Ride Area offers excellent conditions for single-track riding. With trails winding through a mix of softwood stands, hardwood forests, and open meadows, there is something here for everyone:
- Thick growth areas from clearcutting over a decade ago, now grown in with softwood. These sections feature narrow, root-filled single track and the occasional steep hill climb for the adventurous rider.
- Hardwood stands that provide smoother, wider trails ideal for those looking for a less technical experience.
- Open growth and small meadows that create pleasant, flowing riding conditions.
Currently, about 7 km of trail has been developed, with more on the way as Stephen and NSORRA volunteers continue to expand the network. With substantial soil cover, few rocks, and plenty of roots, the terrain offers a natural East Coast riding experience that is both challenging and rewarding.

Access and Parking
The ride area is located across the road from 11159 Hwy 224, Elmsvale. GPS Coordinates: 45.07753, -63.09457
- Riders will find an unlocked gate at the entrance road. Please open and close it behind you to protect the adjacent cattle pasture.
- Follow the 1 km gravel road up into the woodlot where there is a small turnaround and parking area.
- There are no facilities on-site – come prepared and pack out everything you bring in.
Ride Area Rules
This is a privately managed property, and we ask that all members respect landowner rules at all times to ensure the sustainability of this new ride area:
- Trails open May–October, dawn to dusk. No night riding.
- All riders must be NSORRA members for insurance coverage.
- Close the entrance gate behind you at all times.
- Remove all garbage and leave no trace.
- Camping and fires are by landowner permission only.
- The ride area will close the last Sunday before the start of deer hunting season.
- Report any damage or dangers to ensure timely maintenance.
- Wildlife is present, including bears and coyotes. Please educate yourself on proper encounter and avoidance protocols.
