Talking About Off-Road Riding on CBC Mainstreet
Off-road dirt biking is growing across Nova Scotia, and NSORRA Past President Josh Kelly recently had the opportunity to talk about the sport, our community, and our summer racing series on CBC Mainstreet.
Josh joined Wendy Bergfeldt on CBC Mainstreet for a great conversation about off-road motorcycling in Nova Scotia and the work NSORRA is doing to create more opportunities for riders across the province.

A Sport for All Ages and Skill Levels
One of the great things about off-road riding is how inclusive the sport has become. From young children just getting started on two wheels to experienced senior riders, there is a place for people of all ages and abilities.
NSORRA continues to see interest in off-road riding grow throughout Nova Scotia, with riders coming together through recreational rides, training opportunities, ride parks and competitive events.
Bringing Riders Together Through Racing
Josh also highlighted NSORRA’s summer hare scramble racing series, which has become an important part of the province’s off-road riding calendar.
Our provincial hare scrambles bring riders together from different regions of Nova Scotia and from other provinces for exciting, challenging competition while helping raise the profile of off-road motorcycling. Whether riders are competing at the front of the pack or simply looking to challenge themselves and have fun, there is something for everyone.
More Than Just Racing
While racing is a big part of what NSORRA does, our organization is about much more than competition.
We’re working to develop rider skills, promote safety and responsible riding, and build a supportive community for everyone who enjoys off-road motorcycling. Training days, recreational rides, skills development and competitive events all provide opportunities for riders to improve their abilities and enjoy the sport in a safe and organized environment.
We also continue to expand riding opportunities across the province through NSORRA ride parks and ride areas.
A Little Public Education Goes a Long Way
We’ll admit there’s still a little public education to do when it comes to the difference between motocross and off-road trail riding!
While both are forms of dirt biking, they are very different disciplines. NSORRA’s focus includes off-road trail riding, hare scrambles, recreational riding, skills development and responsible access to designated riding areas.
Josh did a great job representing NSORRA and helping introduce more people to what our sport and organization are all about.
A big thank you to Wendy Bergfeldt and CBC Mainstreet for the opportunity to share the story of off-road riding in Nova Scotia—and a huge shout-out to Josh for representing NSORRA so well!
The sport is growing, the community is growing, and there’s never been a better time to get out and ride.
